Putting media messages under the microscope is a key aspect of media literacy. With a focus on issues of immediate relevance to students’ own lives, the Teaching Media Literacy through Contemporary Issues series prompts them to explore who created a message and why, what techniques it uses and what points of view it includes or omits. In completing the activities, students will not only develop their analytical and critical thinking skills but also be better placed to form their own well-grounded opinions. Topics within each book can be studied individually or in sequence to suit the classroom programme. Teacher notes are also included with more detail and teaching suggestions for each topic.
