Story Seekers

Literacy resources for struggling readers

Story Seekers is a collection of books designed to encourage reluctant readers to pick up a book and fill the gaps in their literacy knowledge.

The books engage students with their fun stories, fascinating topics and attention-grabbing imagery.

Story Seekers is a great literacy learning resource that can be used for guided reading, or independent reading, or for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) support.

We currently have two Story Seekers series available.

Story Seekers books are purposefully designed to mimic the look and feel of a chapter book.

Story Seekers: Series 1

This compelling series has been created to lift the literacy skills of reluctant readers and English Language Learners (ELL) students through high-interest stories.

Written at a 7- to 8-year-old reading level, these books will appeal to 8- to 11-year-old students. Each story is divided into short chapters ensuring content is manageable and achievable.

Each chapter has a corresponding language task, providing ample opportunities for new vocabulary and grammatical patterns to be repeated and reinforced.

The series also includes an activity book to extend students’ literacy skills in a range of areas while catering to diverse learning styles.

“I use Story Seekers with my Years 4 – 8 for reading and comprehension. They love it!”

Story Seekers : Series 2

Story Seekers series 2 features high-interest fiction storylines and non-fiction topics to maintain engagement while improving your students’ literacy outcomes.

Each book in this series has an accompanying teacher book which reduces lesson preparation time.

With a dyslexia-friendly layout, well-considered text, engaging images and associated literacy activities, this series of hi-lo readers can be used in a guided reading setting, as independent readers, or as support resources for English for Speakers of  Other Languages (ESOL).

Specifically written at a 7- to 7.5-year-old reading level, these books will appeal to 8- to 11-year-old students.

“I like how every book in Series 2 includes a specific phonics focus based on a programme-wide scope and sequence.”
