Probability Resources for Primary Schools

Probability is a use of numbers to predict whether something will happen. One of the most common examples is tossing a coin. The coin only has two sides so there are only two options for which way up the coin will land. That means the probability of getting heads or tails is 1 in 2 or 50%. It is important to acknowledge that probability is not a guarantee. It provides likelihood rather than certainty.

Probability formulas can have many more factors than a simple 1 in 2 chance. As students learn more about measuring probability, they will learn how complicated and how useful probability formula can become. It is important to note that probability theory is closely connected to statistics, therefore resources will often deal with both.

The Probability Smart and Statistics and Probability series are good places to start when looking for high-quality probability-specific resources. Also, check out some of our titles in the Statistics category that also include probability tasks.
