Numeracy Skills in Chemistry

Many students struggle to reconcile what they observe in an experiment with the model or theory behind it. But demands on their numeracy skills shouldn’t hold them back from advancing in their chemistry studies. Recognising that students with scientific talent can still need support in this area, this Numeracy Skills in Chemistry series is all about strengthening students’ understanding of and confidence with numerical concepts related to chemistry.

Ian Stace-Winkles graduated with a BSc from the Australian National University, before gaining a GradDipEd from the University of Canberra and a MEd from the Australian Catholic University. He has taught science at St Mary MacKillop College, Canberra, and is currently the science coordinator at St Francis Xavier College, which is also in Canberra. He enjoys fiery, colourful and flashy experiments and teaching senior students chemistry.
