Stars in Their Eyes

Stars in Their Eyes is a hi-lo text that carries on from Postcards to Sam in which Sam has to navigate a life without skateboarding and the measures he takes to fill the void.

Skateboarding is banned after Sam breaks his leg. Life is boring, boring, boring.

What else can he do? Then he gets a cool idea - something to do with glitzy costumes, lots of loud noise and, of course, stars in his eyes.

He gives it a go, and Dad laughs until he's sore. Does Sam succeed?

A hilarious, richly illustrated story that will grab, and hold, the attention of your struggling readers.

Adrienne Frater

After a career in education, in 2005 Adrienne Frater took the plunge to become a full-time writer. For the first few years she also lectured on a tertiary diploma of creative writing. She writes for adults and children and her stories have been published or broadcast both within New Zealand and overseas. She has been fortunate in receiving a number of awards including twice being a prize winner in the Commonwealth Short Story competition and chosen to represent New Zealand in the David K Wong (Pen International) Competition. She has written many books in the educational fiction genre.

Adrienne lived in Nelson, New Zealand and was blessed with an over-riding curiosity and sense of fun which endowed her work with humour and energy. Very sadly, Adrienne passed away in February 2020.
